My Dad
I don't
think I could ever express the depth of my admiration towards my
Dad. He's been my Hero since I was a little girl and I longed for
the day when I could be just like him.
In my eyes my Dad is
the symbol of Strength, Honesty, Faithfulness, Loyalty, Dedication,
Love, Warmth, Kindness, Intelligence, Courage and the list goes
on.... I know my place with my parents. My Dad says I'm his girl and
my Mom says I'm her best friend. :)
My parents have always
been there for me as I have been there for them. We help each other
out because that's what we do. I've often told them that they've
done there part with me. They raised me, took care of me, bought me
clothes, shelter, food, stuff, etc... and that I want to pay them
back for all that. Of course they say "But Mara, we're your parents.
We're supposed to do that." LOL And yes, I understand that but most
kids take it for granted that their parents keep them in clothes,
food, toys, electronics, whatever the case may be. NOT ME! I've
always known that this stuff didn't just fall from the sky. I knew
it took my parents taking the time and money to provide these things
to their children. :) I've just always been this way...wanting to
contribute to my parents for all they've done for their kids.
Back to my Dad. :) He was a stock car racer and also built a
custom truck out of a car. Cool, huh? He competed the truck in shows
and won tons and tons of awards, especially for best paint. He even
had a turntable in his truck and played all those great songs like
Little Deuce Coupe by The Beach Boys. He had the best lighting and
things to feature his truck as well. :) The nickname for his truck
was Blue Lightning. If anyone remembers seeing it in the car shows
of the 50s & 60s in Iowa, I'd love to hear from you! Especially
if you have pictures!! I've got one but it's before the chrome
bumper was put on and before the truck was waxed up and glistening.

If anyone has pics of this custom

As I said before
he was in Car Shows in Iowa and there were TONS of pictures
taken but the guys weren't allowed to keep the ones they
entered. I KNOW there HAS to be photos out there.
